Sometimes APERS has to ask you to do things in ways that aren't as easy or convenient as we would like them to be, but these restrictions are for your protection.
As a member of the Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System, you may be able to receive service credit for previous employment with other non-APERS agencies or for previous contributory employment with APERS. While some service credit may be available at no cost, most prior service credit must be purchased.
Not everyone is ready to stop working at retirement age. Some members traveling our road may pass by the main retirement exit and continue to work beyond the point they become eligible for unreduced benefits. This opens some additional options.
