Last year Arkansas Public Employee Retirement System (APERS) hosted ten (10) employer training sessions around the state. These sessions ran approximately 2 – 2½ hour and the intended audience was personnel staff that process hire paperwork and payroll staff that calculate/remit retirement matching and contributions, and prepare/submit the monthly earnings and service reports.
Topics covered in the training sessions included:
eligibility
proper completion of forms
remitting payment of matching and contributions
reporting earnings/service
delinquent service,
lump sum payments
retroactive wage increases
wage settlements,
death of an active member
the Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP)
retirement
All participants received a CD, which included the training session presentations ,the most current APERS Employer Guide, copy of the handout, useful forms and other information.
